Social Studies
The students will engage in several units throughout the year. Subjects will include: history, geography, political science, economics, and citizenship. The term social studies was first used by American educators around the turn of the twentieth century to encompass the above-mentioned subjects.
Second Grade Social Studies Units
These Social Studies Units were developed as an initiative of Michigan State University and University of Michigan with Nell Duke. It is a project based approach to Literacy and Civic Engagement. The units include: Economics, History, Geography, Civics and Government.
